Texas Christmas

Thea and I drove to Houston for Christmas this year. She had fun meeting everyone and it was good to relax at my parents' house.
Here's my father and I on Christmas Eve by the tree.

Thea had no problem relaxing in the living room with Carl and my mother.

My mother's dining room before Christmas dinner.

I took two days and visited Austin, where I went to high school. One of the places I checked out was Barton Springs, where I lifeguarded for a few summers during my college days.

More pictures of the Springs. It covers three acres of water, and it's all spring-fed from the Edwards Aquifer. An endangered species lives in the springs itself, the Barton Springs salamander.

It was a great place to work in the summer.

My sister and her husband bought a new house in Austin recently for their burgeoning family and I took the opportunity to spend a few nights there. It's just north of the Arboretum, in a really cool neighborhood.

In particular, it was interesting getting reacquainted with her cats, Scully
