Moving to Los Angeles
Here's Edie's poor car, all ready to drive to California. It's a long story, basically, there was a car wreck days before our departure date, and so Edie's going to get a new car once we arrive. In the meantime, she's been scaring fellow motorists from Pensacola, Florida to Tuscon, Arizona and beyond.
The cars lined up at my parents' place in Houston. They were up in Aspen, spending July and August there. After experiencing the humidity in Houston during out stop, we understand why.
We arrived in Austin without any problems and stayed at my sister Libba and her husband Kevin's house on the north side of town. Here's my sister helping Edie manage my nephew Liam on the back deck. Did I mention how much I love Libba and Kevin's house?
Thea definitely enjoyed Libba's backyard after being cooped up in the car all the way from Florida. She doesn't realize that she'll have to get back in the car for the lovely drive to California next.
And here's Uncle Mike, holding tiny Liam.
Edie standing in front of the Texas capitol building in downtown Austin. I love the view of it down Congress Avenue.
Here's a great shot of Edie underneath the portrait of former Texas Governor Ann Richards. She was the first person for whom I voted, and she beat Clayton Williams back in 1990.
Here I am beneath a portrait of former Texas Governor John Connally. Some of you may remember that he was struck by the "magic bullet" when John Kennedy was shot.
Edie, glad to be out of the Road Warrior car, enjoying a Sonic ice cream cone in Fort Stockton.
The Camry en route, stopping somewhere in the desert before hitting El Paso. Fully loaded.
Head shot of the dog, glad to be out of the car.
Head shot of me, replicating the same shot I took 10 years earlier, on the same stretch of road before El Paso.
Dog and Master in some handsome land.
El Paso not far off.
Cruising into Arizona from New Mexico. More to come.

How exciting! And Edie is so beautiful... And the sky?! And Liam?!
Uh oh, my jealousy gene is playing up again...
