Mt. Hollywood Sunrise
Hello, everybody, this morning we decided to climb Mt. Hollywood and watch the sunrise over the city, the beach, and the San Fernando Valley. No, this is not the mountain which has the Hollywood sign on it, it's the next hill over, this is the tallest peak in the city, just behind the Griffith Observatory. That same observatory from "Rebel Without a Cause", which explains the bust of James Dean in the above picture.
Here I am at the peak, after climbing over 1600 feet from where we parked. You feel so accomplished for hiking up it, then you get passed by 3 or 4 joggers, leaving you in the dust. That's Los Feliz and East Hollywood beneath me.
Looking back into Burbank and the Valley.
Griffith Observatory and looking down into Los Angeles. The whole area from the observatory to where I was standing was all on fire about a year ago- you can still see the blackened earth up here.
A closer shot of the Observatory.
