Hiking the San Gabriels

I've started doing day hikes in the San Gabriel Mountains, also known as Angeles National Forest. They're within 45 minutes drive from my apt., and I can hike all year round, they have mountains up to and over 10,000 ft. The above photo is from the top of Mt. Vettner at about 6,000 ft. Not an amazing workout for a hike, but the one I wanted to do was closed for the winter. It's been great getting my lungs in shape, though. We hiked Mt. Lukens at 5000 ft. the other day, and in 4 miles we went up about 3300 ft. That was intense. Here are more shots from the top of Mt. Vettner at about 9 am.

I was just underneath the ceiling of clouds, wisps were flowing right by my head.

This summer should be fun, I'm definitely climbing Mt. Baldy. Photos to come.
