Ryan's Visit to LA

My good friend Ryan Carlyle visited Los Angeles this weekend with his girlfriend Lisa. Lisa was in Long Beach giving a talk at a symposium, and Ryan came along with her from their place in Denver. Ryan and I worked together a few years in the Oceanography department at FSU, and he moved to Denver to be with his girlfriend not long after Edie and I moved to California. This is a shot of us at El Porto, when a northwest swell was just coming off its peak.



I love surfing this beach, it's wide enough to accomodate a lot of people.

This is where I first learned to surf when I was living here in the late '90's.





Ryan and Lisa were staying in Long Beach, and Friday night we all had dinner and drinks at the Rock Bottom Brewery- the beer was OK, nothing special, but it was great seeing them again.
