What We're Drinking...

Last night I had a nice Affligem Tripel Belgian ale I picked up at Silverlake Liquor. I'm getting back in the habit of drinking big Belgians due to the fact that I had several over the past few days during my trip up to San Francisco. I left early Wednesday morning and arrived in the bay area around noon. I cruised around the city some and met an old friend of mine, Chris Farmer. Chris and I were good friends and fraternity brothers at Vanderbilt back in the day. Also we hung out a lot when he was living in Pacifica and I was living in Santa Monica in the late '90's. We'd drive up there, meet Chris and his friends, then go snowboarding in Tahoe.

Anyway, Chris now lives in Berkeley with his lovely wife in a cool apartment. We were planning on going surfing at some point, but I got a small headcold, so the next day I accompanied him out to Lindamar for some surfing but didn't actually go out. The surf wasn't great anyway. It was sooo good to see him though, and catch up. We hadn't met for about 10 years.

I went by City Lights Bookstore in North Beach, which I'd never visited before, and picked up a copy of Bulgakov's biography of Moliere. Then I drove up to Buena Vista Park to hang out at my old friend Kevin Francis' new house. He lives way up high on this hill overlooking the whole city and the bay, it's quite an impressive setup. I spent the next couple of days hanging out with him and his beautiful girlfriend (I'm not going to butcher her name with my bad spelling), watching March Madness, drinking much Belgian ale and eating fantastic food, mostly vegan. I drove back yesterday after an invigorating game of tennis (Kevin blew my doors off, but I was a little green).

So, now I'm ready for classes to start up again tomorrow, I guess. We'll see what develops.
