April warmth

So, what's been up. Here I am on a busy Tuesday morning. It's become much, much warmer recently, which is nice, a good change, although I know in a few months I'll be cursing the incessant heat. I received a huuuuuuuge tax refund dating back to our move last summer, I expect, so I bought a new surfboard, a desk, a tent, a sleeping bag and some backpacking equipment. My friend Dawn and I have started surfing more, including some nice sunset rides, and I helped my good friend Brad buy his first wetsuit, used surfboard and pair of booties. I'm taking him out for some lessons this Sunday.
This quarter of my schooling is not good. My profs range from mediocre to near incompetent. It's so strange, last quarter they were so compelling. Luckily, some new students joined our cohort who are really cool and helpful. I'm enjoying my status as the Caucasian mascot. The only other white guy in our group is actually half Greek, half Puerto Rican.
My tent arrives this week and I'll finally be able to do some overnight hikes (yes!). I can't wait. We've already started doing some hiking above 5000 ft to around 7000 ft now that most of the snow has melted, and I've done two hikes on sections of the famous Pacific Crest Trail which extends from Mexico to Canada. I might also take a weekend trip to visit Death Valley, before it gets too hot. We'll see. I'll leave you with a video of my nice greyhound howling and barking.
