Godfather II at the Cinerama Dome

Last night Edie and I went to see "Godfather II" on the big screen at the Cinerama Dome on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood with my friend Rich and his wife. It was the restored, full version, 3 hours and 40 minutes with a 10 minute intermission after 2 hours and 20 minutes.
I love watching movies at the Cinerama Dome, the theater itself is enormous, underneath a giant, geodesic dome, and the huge screen itself is curved, concave. There are certain movies that they replay there, and it was soooo great seeing "Godfather II" there.

Pacino and De Niro at the top of their games, fabulous lighting by Gordon Willis, every scene is taut and intense. Even though the movie was long, one can't help but be completely focused the whole time. We loved getting hot dogs and more drinks at the intermission. We don't understand why more movies don't have intermissions these days, what with so many long running times. Anyway, it was great and I can't wait to check out more replays of old movies at the Egyptian Theater, the Aero, and the Silent Movie Theater around town. One of the perks of living in LA.
