Fiiiiiiiiiiirrreeee

This was taken in front of my house. Just kidding. Seriously, the fires are not good, especially since it looks as if someone set them on purpose. There is so much smoke in the air, the whole city smells like one of those outdoor barbecues where someone burnt too many wet leaves in the fire. You feel nauseous just being outside, and a perpetual doomsday cloud hangs over everything.

The shot above is from the trailer park up in Sylmar, about 5 minutes' drive from where I took my CPR class a few weeks ago. It's a shame, really, because these are the places where you can live in the area very cheaply. Except for Montecito down south, which got it pretty bad, as well.

We were surfing when the sun came up, and it was soooo cloudy and red, it was still dark while we were in the water. The clouds kept the air pretty cool, and the water was freeeeeezzzzing. It was to the point where we were driving to our breakfast place afterwards and you suddenly notice feeling returning to your fingers, and you hadn't even realized that they were numb the whole time. So, the surfing was good, but I could feel a tightness in my lungs just because of all the smoke. Around 10 am we could smell the barbecue smell, and knew it was time to get out.
