Work Day

I started substitute teaching for Alhambra Unified School District yesterday at Alhambra High school, about 15 miles east of my neighborhood, east of downtown. Alhambra is a really nice high school, I liked it a lot. I was subbing for an English teacher who needed the day off to finish grading, so I taught two reading development classes and three sophomore English classes. In the reading development classes we worked on a unit on immigrants and what it is like to come to a new country. In the English classes we talked and worked on the Odyssey, which was interesting. The students were, for the most part, really good, attentive, and hardworking. I think I lucked out, but I would not mind working at that high school at all.

After my classes were over around 2:40 pm, I rushed home to let Thea out and feed her, then rushed back to Cal State LA for my evening class from 4:20 to 8. We got out early, around 6:20 (everyone was exhausted), and I went back home and collapsed on the couch.

Now I'm going to vote across the street in about 20 minutes when the polls open at 7 am. Fun to be an American.
