Santee Education Complex
OK, I'm sorry I've been remiss for so long, just been busy. I'm now at the end of my 4th week of student teaching at Santee Education Complex near downtown, on Maple and Washington. It's a 4 year old high school, with a pretty large student body divided into 4 learning communities. I'm teaching U.S. History, World History, and helping with AP Government. So far, it's going great. My master teacher says I'm ready to teach now, I don't need anymore practice.
I've been teaching the classes full-time from the second week. The kids are great, really great students. I'm enjoying being able to help them with their understanding of the different subjects. Last week was my first observation by my university supervisor, and I did a lesson on the philosopher John Locke. They really got into it, and the supervisor commended me on a good lesson. That really made my day.
I've still been surfing on the weekends while I'm working during the week. I really can't wait to get my own classroom. One that I can take control of myself, with my own students. Not long now, just 6 more weeks.
